Company

Built in Indianapolis. Born from lived experience.

Syntrah didn’t start in a boardroom. It started at a kitchen table, a care facility waiting room, and a local coffee shop downtown.

How Syntrah began

Lakeisha with her father Lauman at home

01The problem

This started with family.

I didn’t set out to build a software company. I set out to make sure my father, Lauman, and my grandmother, Bernice, got the care they deserved.

Watching the people I love navigate the home health system was one of the most eye-opening experiences of my life.

I saw firsthand what families go through when care is inconsistent - the stress of not knowing if someone showed up, the frustration of unanswered calls, and the fear of a loved one sitting alone waiting for help that was supposed to come hours ago.

02The realization

So I stepped inside the system.

I became a certified home health aide because I wanted to understand the full picture - the client, the caregiver, and the family all at once. What I found was a system doing its best with tools that were never built for this work.

The care coordinators were overwhelmed. The agencies were understaffed. The families were exhausted. And the clients - the people at the center of all of it - were too often the ones who paid the price when something fell through.

I knew there had to be a better way.

03The spark

A conversation over coffee.

In 2025, what started as a conversation over coffee at Java House in downtown Indianapolis between myself and Malcolm Lowery - a software engineer who shared the same passion for solving this problem - quickly became something much bigger than either of us anticipated.

We weren’t just talking about building software. We were talking about closing a gap in care that was affecting real families, real clients, and real communities across Indiana.

That conversation became Syntrah.

Principles

What we hold ourselves to

  1. 01

    Coverage can’t silently fail.

A shift nobody takes is declared uncovered and handed to a person. It is never left to expire.

  2. 02

Every change has a name on it.

Overrides, schedule changes and coverage gaps are recorded with who, when and why.

  3. 03

Built with the people on the floor.

The product is shaped by schedulers, charge nurses and caregivers - the people who live the 4:57 AM call-off.

We built this for Lauman. For Bernice. For every family navigating this journey.

If you’re running a facility that serves families like mine, we’d love to talk.

No pressure. No commitment. Just a real conversation about your building.
